Carbon Direct Vice Chairwoman Nili Gilbert Joins Clinton Global Initiative Advisory Council

New York – August 2, 2023Carbon Direct, a company built to help enterprises drive climate action, today announced that Vice Chairwoman Nili Gilbert has been selected to join the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Advisory Council, announced on July 21. The CGI Advisory Council brings together a diverse group of government, corporate, and civil society leaders with demonstrated records of working across sectors and geographies to advance social impact. Members of the Advisory Council will support the work of CGI by providing feedback and insights that will help to orient CGI’s goals and activities for 2023 and beyond, championing and amplifying CGI’s efforts within their unique networks, and engaging CGI’s community of doers at a high level.

Launched by President Clinton in 2005, CGI has built a community of doers who are taking action to make a tangible difference in people’s lives around the world. CGI works with partners to develop Commitments to Action, which are new, specific, and measurable solutions. At the 2022 meeting, members of the CGI community made more than 140 Commitments to Action that will improve access to health care, advance sustainability, create employment opportunities, support refugee resettlement, and more. Since 2005, more than 3,900 Commitments to Action have been launched through CGI. The CGI 2023 Meeting will be held in New York City September 18-19.

“The Clinton Global Initiative recognizes the interconnectedness and urgency of global challenges like climate change, economic growth, and food insecurity,” said Ms. Gilbert. “By bringing together this group of leaders to help drive groundbreaking initiatives, CGI is building on its mission to better the lives of people around the world by catalyzing swift, decisive, and impactful action on the defining issues of our time. I have dedicated my career to mitigating climate change with a focus on critical social goals, and I’m looking forward to working with my peers across disciplines to tackle these challenges.”

Gilbert is a leader in the international climate and finance communities. In addition to serving as an advisor to the CGI Advisory Council, she is also the Chair of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) Advisory Panel of technical experts and a member of its CEO Principals Group. Gilbert is also Chairwoman of the Investment Committees of both the David Rockefeller Fund and the Synergos Institute, as well as a Senior Advisor at Boston Consulting Group (BCG). She is the Chair of U.S. Policy for the United Nations-convened Net Zero Asset Owner Alliance, and was honored among Barron’s 100 Most Influential Women in U.S. Finance earlier this year.

The Advisory Council members will serve as expert advisors, spokespeople, and leaders for CGI, helping to promote a global discussion to advance sustainability, improve access to health care, create employment opportunities, support refugee resettlement, explore how tools like AI can be responsibly harnessed for good, and more.
