Carbon Accounting + Life Cycle Assessment

Merrisa uses her experience in Carbon Accounting to develop life cycle assessments (LCAs) and corporate footprints.

As a Decarbonization Scientist at Carbon Direct, Merrisa works with clients to measure, track, and reduce their corporate or product carbon footprint, in accordance with regulatory and voluntary carbon market imperatives.

Background & Bio

Merrisa is an environmental engineer and carbon accounting expert. Her passion for sustainability and low carbon emissions has driven her career from laboratory analysis to advisory services. Prior to joining Carbon Direct, she verified GHG emissions against GHG Protocol Scopes 1-3 for prominent corporations. She also helped determine if projects could be ISO 14040 series and ISO 14067 certified.

Before working as an emissions accounting verifier, Merrisa co-led prominent bioengineering projects for a Maryland based biotech company where she led waste-to-energy research. Her in-depth understanding of biotechnical processes gives her a foundational comprehension of the innovative technologies required for a net-zero future.
